Notice to Shareholders in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area

Shareholders on the UK Register with addresses in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area who are entitled to participate in the Rights Offer and who wish to sell all or part of their Rights entitlement should return their completed Form of Instruction to the UK Registrar by no later than 12pm on 25th June 2008. Net proceeds due to Shareholders will be paid in British Pounds. None of the South African transfer secretaries, the UK Registrars, any broker appointed by them or AngloGold Ashanti, will have any obligation or be responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever in relation to or arising out of the timing of such sales, the price obtained or any failure to sell such rights offer entitlement.
Holders who have received a letter of entitlement are deemed to be Qualified Investors and do not need to supply any further evidence to satisfy this. Qualified Investors who are acting on behalf of beneficial holders with addresses in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area are to ensure that such beneficial owners are themselves Qualified Investors before acting on their behalf. In respect of those beneficial owners who are excluded from accepting the rights offer, the onus is on the Qualified Investor to notify Computershare of the total number of rights to be sold as soon as possible to ensure that such sell orders can be acted upon. It is to be noted that the rights offer closes after the close of the trading in rights. Computershare will provide updated Forms of Instructions to Qualified Investors wishing to split their election.
